Enjoy the journal...

I'm just popping in to share with you a journal I made recently for one of the Viva la Verve sketches this month. I used some Authentique papers I got for Christmas and some new Verve stamps that arrived recently - gotta love new toys!

I used the label shape from Verve's Tag Time set along with the coordinating die for the sentiment panel, colouring around the edge with copics and adding some stickles for a bit of sparkle. The sentiment is from Bountiful Backgrounds and I added a little accent above and beneath with a stamp from Thankful Accents using Sahara Sand ink. The flowers are from Verve's Making a Statement stamp and cut with the coordinating die - I coloured with the same copics as the label and added stickles as well. I finished them off with a little button in the centre.

The panel across the journal is a piece of coordinating paper with a die-cut border attached top and bottom then I added some PTI grosgrain ribbon. The journal is a Moleskine one that comes in packs of three - great for covering!

PTI Blog Hop... Casing Myself

Hi there,

When I saw this month's PTI blog hop theme, I really wanted to play along so I found a little window of time today after work to put something together. The challenge was to take your favourite card from last year and case yourself - what fun! Here's what I came up with:

And here's the card from last year that I cased:

As you can see, I kept the layout, the doily, the style of ribbon, lace, button etc, but changed the colour scheme, flower stamp and sentiment used. I used Papertrey's Delightful Dahlias set along with Mat Stack 2 and Tea for Two for the sentiment. The flowers were stamped on coloured card then shaded slightly with a light grey copic marker. I must admit, I prefer the 2011 version, but probably because I like rich, bold colours more than pastels!

CR84FN To do lists...

Hiya,

I made a little altered notebook for this week's CR84FN challenge... check out the colour inspiration:

Here's what I came up with this afternoon (not the most practical of notebooks it has to be said...!)

I started by pulling out some K&Co papers that have very bright and funky patterns and found one with blue, yellow and orange. I wanted to use my new Layers of Colour stamp set that I got for Christmas (perfect for notebooks and journals of many kinds) so I stamped the frame in Tangerine Tango and the words in Pacific Point ink and cut out with coordinating nesties. To embellish I added some rolled roses that I created with a die and added some Stickles for a bit of sparkle. The final touch was a heart shaped button towards the top of the frame.

VLV Courage...

Hi there,

I wanted to make a card for my boss this week with a specific Verve sentiment that I love (from the Blue Skies set). I used the sketch from this week's Viva la Verve challenge...

Because I was making it for a man I had to resist my natural inclination to embellish the heck out of it and add flowers and butterflies... lol! It wasn't easy, let me tell you! I used some Kaisercraft papers for the muted colour scheme, stamped the sentiment with Charcoal ink (from SU's distressing kit) and a couple of swirls also from the Blue Skies set in Sahara Sand (stamped off once first to make them really faint). I sponged some Antique Linen ink around the sentiment to warm it up a little and added some 'manly' embellishments... if there are such things! Some old hodgepodge hardware together with some twill tape and a couple of buttons did the trick.

I hope the sentiment encourages him along with the thought that someone cares! After all, that's why we do this hobby isn't it..? That and the unhealthy addiction to paper... :-)

Have a great day wherever you are!

Belated Mojo Birthday...

Welcome to my new blog! I hope you enjoy what you see here. I wanted to play along with this week's Mojo Sketch and I had a nice little pile of goodies to play with that were a Christmas pressie from my Mum. She likes going to Kaisercraft in Australia and creating a little bundle of crafty things for me whether it's for Christmas or birthday and she has excellent taste so I always look forward to opening that particular present!! Here's what I created...

The papers I used are from the Chapter One collection and the label shape is one of the die-cuts included in the paper pad. I used a sentiment from Verve's Birthday Wishes set on the label (last year I was not as organised as I would have liked and often missed birthday dates so I think it will be handy to have a few 'belated' cards on file!). The crochet doily and paper flower are also from Kaisercraft (I had to force myself to use these as otherwise I would hoard them and just look at them!). I added some lace and pearls to finish things off.
